The goal of the INB is to agree the terms of the Pandemic Treaty prior to the end of 2024.
The opening and closing plenary sessions of the INB taking place on 9th and 20th September will be publicly webcast. They are open to WHO Member States, Associate Members, Observers and regional economic integration organisations, as well all relevant stakeholders.
At the opening session on 9th September 2024, the legal architecture of the proposal for the WHO Pandemic Agreement (document A/INB/11/INF./1) will be discussed in addition to the complementarity and coherence between the amended International Health Regulations (2005), adopted by the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly, and the proposal for the WHO Pandemic Agreement (document A/INB/11/INF./2).
It is during the “closed” sessions that the substantive negotiations take place.
