The deadline for Tedros Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the WHO, to communicate to the UK government (and every other State Party to the WHO) a package of amendments to the IHR to be considered at the 77th World Health Assembly in May 2024, was 27th January 2024.
Since no one is aware of any such communication and given that Dr Abdullah Assiri, the Co-Chair of the Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations, advised at the fifth meeting of the WGIHR in October 2023, that, “realistically the whole package of amendments will probably not be ready by January 2024”, we can only assume this deadline has been missed. This means the WHO has breached international law.
Why do these unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats seem to think it acceptable to plan our future largely in secret and then break their own rules so that no government has any opportunity to consider the amendments in advance of May 2024? Isn’t it time politicians spoke up? Do they even understand what is at stake for our country if the amendments are allowed to go through unchallenged?
Many MPs have “bravely” stated they would never allow UK sovereignty to be ceded to the WHO. But is it really the WHO who could impose tyranny? Or is it our own domestic legislation that would enable the WHO’s tyrannical agenda to be imposed on the people of the UK?
